Why the Philippines?

The Philippines is one of the most affected countries experiencing brain drain. Also, it is our homeland, so it would be good to learn new information about it.

What is Brain Drain?

Brain drain is a situation in which many educated or professional people leave a particular place or profession and move to another one that gives them better pay or living conditions (according to Merriam-Webster's dictionary).

For our multi-media project for our political science (POLISCI) class, we decided to create a website on the concept of ‘Brain Drain’. ‘Brain Drain’ happens when fresh graduates (collegiate level) in different fields (medicine, law, arts, engineering, etc) would choose to apply their respective fields in other countries, rather that the country they were originally trained/ taught in (Philippines). The reason why we chose to tackle this issue is because, with all the ‘brains’ leaving the country and serving other countries, the progression of the Philippines slows down/ does not improve at all. All the bright minds and ideas; all the training gained here were not for the benefit of the Philippines. We chose this topic to raise awareness of the issue of ‘brain drain’. Into the details of the project, we chose to create a website with all the results (from surveys and interviews) that we have gathered posted online and shared to the public.
